The German luxury car maker, Mercedes-Benz likes to make an AMG model out of pretty much anything, and this notion comes especially after the brand decided to AMG-up their Hummer H1 equivalent in 2005, the Gelandewagen, to make the G55 AMG.
Now, Mercedes-Benz has decided to AMG their latest urban family truckster. So if the kids are driving you nuts and you want to shorten the duration of your trip as quickly as possible, then look no further. The company will be releasing the first samples of this neoteric crossover SUV to the dealerships in the European countries by the month of November this year.
Visual cues like more pronounced front air vents topped with LED running lamps set the GL63 apart from its lesser kin, as do the aluminum trim on the lower front fascia and aggressive-looking 21-inch five-spoke wheels that hide new red brake calipers. As you would expect, the interior is fitted with sporty upgrades like a new steering wheel, AMG sport seats and leather-wrapped everything.
As with all AMG models, the biggest change is under the hood. The GL63 sports AMG’s M157 twin-turbocharged, direct-injected 5.5-liter V8 that churns out an earth-stopping 550hp and 560 lb-ft of torque, and channel that through Mercedes’ own seven-speed AMG Speedshift transmission. It has recorded 4.9 seconds as the 0-100 kmph acceleration time and is capable of attaining a top speed of 155 mph or 250 kmph.

Alongside the outstandingly versatile ML63 AMG and the recently launched G63 AMG and G65 AMG, the GL63 AMG sets clear accents in the fields of dynamics and style,” said AMG’s CEO, Ola Kallenius. “The GL63 AMG combines the first-class comfort of the S-Class with the performance of an AMG sports sedan and is utterly unique in its segment.”
