2012 Auto Expo – Yamaha India unveils Ray concept scooter

Yamaha India has uncovered their much awaited scooter –called the Ray for now, which could change by the time the scooter hits showrooms around mid 2012. The scooter has been designed with women in mind, and has pink highlights and a rather pleasant stance. Though the Yamaha scooter displayed at the Auto Expo is currently at a concept stage, this is clearly targeted at the fairer sex.

The edgy, stylish and compact looking Ray looks like being a light, small capacity (approximately 100-125cc) scooter, well suited to urban Indian commuting duties. Other scooters on display were the Xeon 125, Fino and Mio scooters, all currently available in Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam.

Usual suspects like the R1 and VMax were also at the stall. New limited edition YZF-R15 Version 2.0 variants in white and fiery red colors, these marking the 50th anniversary celebrations of Yamaha’s Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix. The fiery red R15 limited edition bike will be priced at Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and the white and red bike will sell for Rs 1.11 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The company plans to sell just 4,000 units of each of these limited edition R15s.
