Tata Manza Diesel Hybrid Concept

Tata Motors showcased some very interesting concept cars at the 2012 Auto expo, like the Tata Nano CNG concept, some of which are more of aspirational high tech cars like Tata Nano Pixel showcased at event. The company also showcased two other cars which attracted a lot of visitors attention, these are – Tata India Vista Concept S2 and Tata Indigo Manza Hybrid Concept. Both these cars exhibited excellent exterior designing with some very interesting features. The Tata Manza Diesel Hybrid Concept is a special car for it is the first Indian diesel hybrid concept, a tribe of cars that will only grow in the coming times.

Tata Manza Hybrid Concept car is a Diesel-Electric Hybrid with a small 1.05-litre common rail turbo diesel engine that produces about 60 Bhp. This engine is mated to an automatic CVT transmission that also receives power from a 45 KW electric motor giving the car its hybrid credentials. The car comes with Automatic transmission for ease of driving and better gear selection for optimum fuel economy.

The Manza Hybrid features a 44 liter diesel tank, which means that it will be good for a range of close to a whopping 1,000 kilometers when combined with electric power. Kerb weight of the Manza Hybrid concept is 1250 Kg. It has an electrical power steering system with independent front suspension with McPherson Struts and semi-independent rear suspension with twist beam and coil springs.

In concept guise, the Manza Diesel Hybrid has the following additional features,

  • Proximity touch operated door locks
  • Bi Xenon and LED projector headlamps
  • LED tail lamp cluster
  • Hydrophobic nano coating on the windshield
  • Touch screen infotainment console with haptic feedback

The car is a reinterpretation of the form, as previously seen on the Indica Vista Sport, which came about at the last Auto Expo in 2010. The Concept S2 has a wider and wedge-like stance, and the design features a central volume that’s encased by two arrow-like flanks. A two-tone paint scheme – a matte metallic dark shadow and bright silver combination – and the use of aluminium and red accents helps highlight the shape further.

Dress-up kit includes a metallic brow for the headlamps, a lower grilled with a polished black lip surround and signature LED daytime running lights at the front, while the rear gets a spoiler, restyled rear bumper and a stylised LED tail lamp cluster. The inclusion of side skirts completes the picture.

Inside, the Vista Concept S2 gets a black-themed cabin, with sporty race bucket seats clad in black leather and a smaller diameter, sportier steering wheel among the cue changes.

Tata Indica Vista S2 is a sports hatchback concept powered by a turbocharged 1.4 Litre MPFI Petrol engine capable of delivering 140 PS of peak power and 188 Nm of torque to make this car a wheel burn! To keep up the sportiness, powerful engine is mated to a 5 speed manual transmission by Fiat (C510) with improved gear ratios. It has a kerb weight of just 1152 Kg and has disk brakes in all wheels. It grips the road with wide 205/40 R17 alloy wheels. The stiff suspension and sporty interiors are an icing on the cake!
