With many cars already being added by the German company BMW to the range of SUV and crossover, it has announced that a unique version of crossover named ‘X4’ been launched in 2014 which would ranged in between X3 and X5 SUV’s. The X4 will be available in both petrol and diesel engines. After the launch, it is expected to be followed to India where there are great demands of SUV’s with high ground clearance. As the X6, BMW X4 would continue to be a sporty crossover. The X4 would be a X3 premium compact SUV with seating capacity of 4 passengers.
The X4 would share many components from X3, being slightly wider and longer than X3. It comes equipped with large all-wheel disc brakes along with ABS, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) anti skid system and power steering. Coming to the technical specifications, the X4 is speculated to come with an optional 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine or 3.0-liter turbocharged inline 6-cylinder engine. Transmissions provided would be either 8-speed automatic transmission or 7-speed dual clutch automated manual transmissions.
As the launch of BMW X4 is about a year away, BMW is set to launch its first electric car named ‘i3’ which will make its International debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show later this year. These cars would be equipped with lithium ion batteries which would travel an average of 220 Kms on a full charge. The car will also be provided with an optional range extender which would be a twin-cylinder petrol engine that will be used to charge the lithium ion batteries acting as a generator.
The car is made from light metal alloys, high-grade glass material which makes the car much lighter in weight and has generous amount of space within the cabin. This rechargeable car can be fully charged in less than 4 hours using the 240-volt charging unit. The i3 delivers maximum output of 170 hp and has peak torque of 250 Nm and this electric car can accelerate the top speed of 150 kmph. Coming to the features, the i3 includes a 19″ inch wheels, LED headlights, elegant kidney grille, silver-coloured rear diffuser and gracious tail lights on rear window which grabs the attention.
