Yamaha India after showcasing its R3 at the 2014 EICMA in Milan, Italy has now imported two units of Yamaha R3 from Indonesia for R&D purpose at a price tag of INR 1.88 lakhs for each unit. Details of the imports obtained from Zauba.com are as follows:

Although Yamaha has not yet confirmed the launch of R3 in the Indian market, Yamaha is expected to price the upcoming R3 below INR 3 lakhs in order to compete the likes of KTM RC 390, Honda CBR 300R and Kawasaki Ninja 300. As per the imports, Yamaha might launch the R3 instead of R25 in the Indian market this year.
Yamaha R3 would feature parallel twin-cylinder layout, comfortable riding position, clip-on handlebars, digital speedometer, telescopic forks at the front, swing arm at the rear and ABS would be offered as standard. Coming to the technical specifications, Yamaha R3 would be powered with a 321cc, two-cylinder engine coupled to six speed transmission producing a maximum power of 42 PS at a maximum torque of 29.6 NM. Yamaha R3 would in fact also use technologies such as low friction and forged pistons, carburized conrods and direct drive cam shaft.
