Hennessey is a Texas based sports car manufacturing company. US engineers of the company have shown their skills by developing the fastest car in the world. This car has been named Venom GT and it can offer the top speed of an incredible 435 kmph. With such an exceptional top speed, the Venom GT has set the world record during its test run in Florida’s Kennedy Space Center. The record is indeed very impressive. The test driver was Brian Smith. Instead of a high speed oval, he drove the car and broke the record on a tarmac stretch of 5.1 kilometer. Smith stated that if they could test run on an 8 mile oval, they could have gone even faster!
Venom GT ‘World’s Fastest Edition’
Hennessey’s Venom GT has beaten the previous world record of 431 kmph that was set by Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. Though, Bugatti will maintain its position in Guinness book of records, as per a source. It is so because in order to account for variables, such as wind direction and gradients, the Guinness book of records required a car to make runs in 2 directions. Thus, the Venom GT which can only be driven in 1 direction on the Kennedy Space Center strip will be unable to make its way into the book.
Hennessey’s Venom GT has been equipped with a 927 kW twin-turbo, 7.0 L, V8 engine wedged between the axles. This engine is powerful enough to produce a power output of 1200 BHP and a torque of 1566 Nm. The engine of Venom GT has been coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission. Hennessey’s Venom GT is a stretched Lotus Exige. Venom GT flaunts lightweight carbon fiber body and wheels. It is a very stylishly designed car that will leave on-lookers awe-struck!
