Swedish-automaker Volvo have opened bookings for the XC40 SUV at their respective dealerships. Customers can book their XC40 by paying an amount of Rs.5 lakh as booking amount. Volvo have announced that the new XC40 will be officially launched in India on July 4, 2018.
It will come via the CBU route and the top-trim of ‘R-Design’ variant will be on sale. The XC40 will come with a host of features like LED headlamps, 18-inch alloy wheels, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging and so on. It will be high on the safety front as well, with Traction Control, Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control and ESP all available.
The XC40 will be based on Volvo’s Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform. It will be the smallest SUV in Volvo’s line-up and is expected to sell in good numbers. Engine-wise, the XC40 will be powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder D4 diesel engine.
This engine produces 190 BHP of power and 400 Nm of torque. It will come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The XC40 will have All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system as a standard feature by which power will be supplied to all four wheels.
Prices are expected to approximately be in the range of Rs. 40-45 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The XC40 will rival the likes of the BMW X1, Audi Q3 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC. Volvo will bet on the XC40 to bring in volumes, and could also ramp up production if the initial demand is high.
