Volvo XC40 India-bound to be launched in mid-2018

Swedish Automaker Volvo will add another SUV to their portfolio by next year, with the launch of the XC40. The  XC40, basically an entry level SUV, will sit below the XC60 and XC90 in Volvo’s india line-up. Volvo recently unveiled the SUV in Milan not long ago.

On the exterior, the stylish design theme is carried out on the XC40 ,sporting sharp lines. It looks like a mini-XC90 from almost all angles. Volvo will give the XC40 a choice of two engines.

One will be a 2.0 litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine giving 190 BHP of power. The other will be a 2.0 litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine giving 247 BHP of power. Both engines are mated to an eight-speed gearbox, with automatic as an option and all-wheel drive as standard.

Sources also say that Volvo will add a 2.0-litre diesel unit (150 BHP) to the range later on. Volvo will locally manufacture the car in India. The XC40 will be built on Volvo’s Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform.

Features include 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and so on. The car is expected to cost around 40 Lakhs after it gets launched. Rivals include the Audi Q3 and Mercedes Benz GLA.
