Volvo V90 Cross Country now on-sale in India: From Rs. 60 lakh

Volvo’s first estate car in India, the V90 Cross Country is launched in the country with a single Inscription trim at a price of Rs. 60 lakh (ex-showroom India).

The V90 is positioned between the S90 sedan and XC90, and it blends the characteristics of S90 sedan and XC90 SUV, thus, is aimed at both the sedan as well as SUV aspiring customers. The new station wagon expands Volvo’s ‘Cross Country’ lineup in India, which includes the V40 Cross Country and the S60 Cross Country. Both the existing ‘Cross Country’ did not disappoint in terms of sales so far, and the new V90 Cross Country will only lead the sales better.

From India, the V90 Cross Country will only be available with the same 2.0-litre diesel engine from the S90 sedan which uses the 190hp D4 diesel engine in India, but gets the more powerful 235hp D5 motor on it. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and a Haldex AWD system. It offers 4 driving modes – Comfort, Off-Road, Dynamic and Eco mode. It sprints from 0 to 100 KMPH in 7.2 seconds before attain a top-speed of 240 KMPH.

The interior is based on the well-received S90 sedan with the minimal dashboard comprising a large 12-inch touchscreen. This includes brown Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated and power adjustable front seats, 4-zone automatic climate control, hands free power tail gate, rain sensing wipers, memory function for driver and passenger seats and a panoramic sunroof. 560 liters of boot space can be expanded to 1526 liters with the rear seats folded.

A total of 7 colours are on offer – Crystal White Metallic, Bright Silver Metallic, Magic Blue Metallic, Osmium Grey Metallic, Onyx Black Metallic, Havana Maple Brown Metallic and Magic Blue Metallic. Being a Volvo, it also comes with a host of active and passive occupant safety systems such as six airbags adaptive cruise control, collision warning with emergency brake assist, lane-keeping aid, and Park Pilot Assist, rear collision warning, blind spot detection, etc.
