In the recently concluded Auto Expo 2018, Tata Motors surprised us by unveiling a performance version of the Tiago hatchback, called the Tiago JTP. This performance hatchback was developed in partnership with Jayem Automotives. Recently, an spy image has been clicked of the Tiago JTP undergoing testing.
In the image, we can see the car with a camouflaged front bumper, logo and fender. This may indicate that Tata Motors may introduce a new bumper on the car. Other than these changes, the car has the same design as the stock Tiago.
We can expect some changes to take place on the Tiago JTP. These namely include a new front bumper, a blacked-out grille, smoked headlamps and sporty alloy wheels. There will also be a twin-chrome finished exhaust tips and a JTP badge.
On the inside, the Tiago JTP will be available in black-leather seats with JTP embossing in red and orange highlighting for the HVAC vents. Tata will give the car a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine capable of delivering 110 BHP of power. The engine may come paired to a 5-speed manual transmission.
Tata Motors is expected to price the Tiago JTP aggressively, given their expertise on it. The Tiago JTP will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS, the Abarth Punto from Fiat and the Volkswagen Polo TSI. We can expect the rest of the details regarding the Tiago JTP to arrive soon.
