Toyota India begin testing of the new 2021 Fortuner in India

It’s been more than a month since the launch of the 2021 Toyota Fortuner facelift in Thailand. Now the new SUV has been spotted in India for testing.

The 2021 Fortuner is gaining a redesigned exterior with a new grille, headlamps and bumpers. It also gets rear fascia revamped with new clusters of tail lamps. The test mule seen in these photos has a rear mounted emissions testing kit and rides on a new alloy style wheels.

The global premiere of the model was held in Thailand, where sales have now commenced.

With Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, the 2021 Fortuner is expected to get a bigger touchscreen infotainment head-unit on the dashboard. Other features may include automatic climate control, wireless charging, 360-degree camera and ambient lighting.

The new 2021 Fortuner facelift comes with a more powerful 2.8 liter, 4-cylinder diesel engine on the international market. It produces 500 Nm and 201 BHP. The engine is mated to an automatic 6-speed transmission.

The reports suggest that the launch in scheduled for September this-year, will offer both petrol and diesel motors.

The 2021 Fortuner is currently being offered in India with a 2.7-liter petrol engine producing 164 BHP and 245 Nm, and a 2.8-liter diesel motor producing 175 BHP and 420-450 Nm depending on the transmission option.
