Not to wait too much and loose, Volvo has decided to increase its presence in India by opening 5 new dealerships across India. This will increase the total number of dealerships to 12 which is currently only 7 in India. These new dealerships have been strategically placed at the metropolitan locations which are – Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Jaipur and Ahmedabad. Volvo Auto opened its first dealership in March 2008 and currently markets its products through its dealerships in New Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Kochi and Pune.
According to a Business Standard report, Volvo Auto India Managing Director Paul de Voijs said that the Indian luxury car segment will reach 1.4 – 1.5 lakh units per annum by 2020. However, Paul de Voijs said that Volvo is optimistic about the market’s growth and will gradually become a significant player.
