After the recent news of sub-4-meter Vento, now Volkswagen has yet another compact SUV called the Taigun to join the sub-4-meter segment. Volkswagen’s R&D chief Mr. Ulrich Hackenberg reported to one of the sources of AutoCarIndia that this new concept Taigun would be sold worldwide. Volkswagen’s this release would aim to compete compact SUV’s such as Ford Ecosport, Renault Duster and the upcoming Mahindra’s S1010 in the Indian market.
Hackenberg further extended his talk to AutoCarIndia saying that Taigun would not be incorporated with a 4-wheel-drive, but it would be 319mm longer, 83mm wider and 81mm taller than other small cars by Volkswagen, he also said that Taigun would be stretched to sub-4-meter category in India with a slight increase in its wheelbase keeping in view interior space and more rear legroom space which is of great demand in India.
Coming to the technical specifications, Taigun would be powered with turbocharged 1.0-litre, three-cylinder engine which has a maximum power of 110 PS at a torque of 175Nm which would be controlled by a six-speed manual transmission gear box. The Taigun is expected to go from 0-100kmph in 9.2 seconds with a top speed of 186kmph.
