Mahindra has been developing a rival to the Toyota Fortuner for some time now and news has come that the model will be launched next-year, according to a report by AutoCarIndia. They model is rumoured to be name the XUV 700 and will carry technology from SsangYong. Images show that the car looks muscular and stylish.
India’s largest SUV maker, Mahindra and Mahindra, are also planning to launch an Innova crysta rival as well as the new-generations of XUV 500 and Scorpio. These may take place sooner than later, which shows of its progress as a UV maker. Mahindra will also try to use Ssangyong’s expertise and Tech to develop these models.
The XUV 700 will feature a touchscreen infotainment system, LED headlamps with DRLs, ambient lighting, Hill Descent control, ABS and 9 airbags etc. Mahindra might use its 2.2-litre Turbo Diesel and 2.0-litre petrol engine on the XUV 700. The former giving 185 BHP and 420 NM and the latter given 225 BHP and 220 NM mated to a 6-speed manual and 7-speed automatic.
This model will be largely identical to the 2018 Ssangyong Rexton (Y400) and Mahindra could give some design touches to make it more attractive. Expected to be showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo, the XUV 700 maybe prized around Rs. 22-28 lakh. Competition will come in the form of the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.
