Volkswagen T-Roc is sold out for 2020 in India

News has come that the Volkswagen T-Roc has been sold out in the Indian market for the year 2020. As a result, dealers will start collecting bookings for the car which will be delivered to the customers by the next year. Volkswagen launched the T-Roc here only in March and had decided to sell the first batch of the mid-size SUV, which consisted of 1000 units by the end of the year.

The T-Roc was launched here only with a top-end variant at a price of Rs.19.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India). It was and still remains to be the most affordable car to be sold via the CBU route here. The T-Roc is offered with a host of features such as an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, LED headlamps and tail-lamps to name a few.

On the safety front, the mid-size SUV comes with six airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse camera and tyre pressure monitoring system. The T-Roc also received a five star crash test rating from Euro NCAP. This is quite an impressive feat considering the fact that the CBU model is on the same lines as its European twin.

Volkswagen offers the T-Roc with a single engine option of a 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol motor. This manages to make 150 BHP of power and 250 Nm of torque. It does comes mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox.

Volkswagen had earlier announced the possibility of manufacturing the T-Roc here sometime rather than bringing it as a CBU unit. Now with the response for the mid-size SUV being satisfactory, the automaker could begin their operations of locally developing the car. This might happen from next year onwards which in turn could make the T-Roc more affordable and value for money.

The T-Roc is the first product coming from the Volkswagen stable under the Group’s ‘India 2.0’ plan. Before that the automaker will introduce the India made version of their other mid-size SUV, the Taigun soon. The Volkswagen T-Roc competes with the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson, Mahindra XUV500, MG Hector Plus and the Skoda Karoq in the higher end of the mid-size SUV market.
