Volkswagen recently showcased its India made Polo vRS hatchback. This hatchback is set to be launched in the Indonesian market. There are also reports that this model could be heading soon to India, irrespective of Volkswagen’s recent sales slump.
Volkswagen have not yet spoke about its plans on launching the next-gen Polo in 2021. The Polo is surviving in India, albeit with some minor changes and the company updating it regularly. By this, we can say that Volkswagen’s plans on the Polo are a bit strained, with the company planning a replacement for it.
The Polo vRS has its speciality lying in its exciting engine range. It employs a 1.2-litre TSI engine producing 140 BHP of power and 230 Nm of Torque. The engine will come mated to a 7-Speed twin-clutch, DSG unit.
Cosmetic changes in the Polo vRS include a black front spoiler, blacked out alloy wheels, vRS decals on the sides and black skirts. On the inside, the car gets an armrest for the driver. These will be the changes that can help Volkswagen’s sales numbers and hopefully keep the Polo till 2021.
With the Polo vRS, Volkswagen will aim at car enthusiasts who could spend a premium. Volkswagen is expected to price the Polo vRS for at least one lakh more than the original Polo. We can also expect the Vento TSI to arrive with the same treatment if the Polo does succeed.
