Bajaj Auto has finally launched the much-awaited Avenger range in the country starting at Rs. 75,000. The company has expanded its Avenger cruiser range with three variants – Street 150, Street 220 and Cruise 220.
Talking about the Avenger Street models, both the variants measure 2177 mm in length, 801 mm in width, 1070 mm in height and comes with 169 mm ground clearance. The Street 220 has a wheelbase of 1490 mm, whereas, that of the Street 150 is 10 mm shorter resulting in 1480 mm. In kerb weight too, the Street 220 weighs 150 kg while its younger sibling the Street 150 weighs 148 kg.
The Street models comes with a lowered handlebar, striking yellow graphics, new grab rail, 9-spoke alloy wheels, new instrument cluster with a digital meter, brighter headlamp, clear lens indicators, revised cushion with added foaming for enhanced comfort and have matte finish paint jobs. The Street 150 is only offered in Midnight Blue, while the Street 220 is only offered in Matte Black.
The smallest Avenger to go on-sale, the Street 150 uses a 149.5cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled unit that develops 14.3 BHP @ 9,000 rpm and 12.5 Nm of torque @ 6,500 rpm, as opposed to 14.8 BHP @ 9,000 rpm and 12.5 Nm @ 6,500 rpm on the Pulsar. Transmission is a 5-speed unit. The company claims that the engine is tweaked to produce 10% more torque at low and mid ranges of the curve compared to the Pulsar’s.
The Street 220 is powered by the same 219.89cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, oil-cooled DTS-i engine with an oil cooler paired to a 5-speed gearbox. It features the same output as seen on the outgoing model, producing 18.8 BHP @ 8,400 rpm and 17.5 Nm of torque @ 7,000 rpm.
