Skoda India is all-set to launch the mid-sedan segment with its new car Skoda Rapid on the 16th November. Now the company has released a video of the new car which explains all the features of the car and has also kicked up their Skoda Rapid section on their site.
For the moment the Skoda Rapid India variant will be offered in 3 variants – Skoda Rapid Active, Skoda Rapid Ambition and Skoda Rapid Elegance with each in petrol and diesel variants. Furthermore, the auto major is said to bestow the Skoda Rapid petrol with an automatic gearbox, which will be missing in the diesel variant initially.
Skoda Rapid’s resemblance with Volkswagen Vento is more than just Skin deep as it runs with the similarities in terms of engines and gearboxes. Like Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid will be offered in 5-speed manual gearbox and 6-speed automatic gearbox coupled with 1.6 L petrol and diesel engines. Skoda Rapid will be offered with automatic gearbox in the mid-variant for the first time in the car industry heritage. The Skoda Rapid petrol will compete against Honda City which falls insignificant with 1.5 L petrol engine in comparison to Rapid’s 1.6 L engine. On the other hand, base variants of Verna come affixed with 1.4 L engine in both diesel and petrol guise.
According to the recent update, the Skoda Rapid price is expected to be around Rs. 6.7 lakhs for the base model of the petrol variant, going all the way to Rs.9 lakhs for the automatic version and around Rs. 7 lakhs for the base model of the diesel variant.
