If you ever wanted an ultimate TVS motorcycle, it’s just got to be a 2016 TVS Apache RTR 200. Powered by an all-new 200cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine, the Apache 200 is said to be faster than the KTM 200 Duke.
As per the reports, the new Apache 200 will sprint from 0-60 km/h in under 3.5 seconds. Although the reports did not disclose the specific rate of acceleration of the Apache, while the Duke 200 is known to sprint from 0-60 km/h in close-to 3.30 seconds. Thus, we doubt if the 2016 Apache RTR 200 will indeed be quicker than the Duke.
See, 6% or 0.20 seconds in real life might not seem like a lot but on the race track, it’s a whole different story – even a second might feel like a lifetime to racing riders. The publication further reports that the engine will cough-up around 28 PS of maximum power and 22-25 Nm of peak torque, paired to a 5-speed transmission. The exhaust is likely to be sound engineered magnificently.
The new set of spyshots snapped in Indonesia reveals one prototype sports clip-on handlebars, while the other one makes do with a traditional, single-tube handlebar. It is unclear if TVS Motor Company will launch both options on the new model or if the company is yet to finalise on the type of handlebar to be used. There are no further noticeable differences between the two test mules in question.
Both test-mule spotted here surprisingly didn’t feature ABS (Anti-lock Braking System).
