Mercedes-Benz’s sole supercar model, the Mercedes-AMG GT S is now on-sale in India priced at Rs. 2.40 Crore ex-showroom Delhi, with the car being revealed by five-time German touring car championship (DTM) winner Bernd Schneider.
In India, only the hotter “S” variant of the flag-bearing coupe AMG is available at the moment, featuring an AMG Speedshift dual-clutch automatic transmission, the GT S also gets a performance exhaust with fully-variable flaps, an AMG Ride Control system, and an electronic locking differential limited to just the “S” variant you see here.
The AMG GT S features a 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 engine that delivers a maximum 510 PS at 6,250 rpm and 650 Nm from 1,750 to 4,750 rpm. It will be paired to a 7-speed Speedshift DCT gearbox, sending power to the rear wheels. The GT S has a century sprint time of 3.8 seconds with top speed rated at 310 km/h, aided by the light-weight 231 kg chassis.
As far as safety is concerned, the AMG GT S comes equipped with an AMG high-performance composite braking system, adaptive brake lights, PRE-SAFE, automatic child seat recognition, 3 Stage ESP and 8 airbags.
A total of 7 exterior colours are on offer – Magnetic Black, Iridium Silver, Brilliant Blue, Selenite Grey, Designo Finish Hyacinth Red, Diamond White Bright and AMG Solar Beam.
