The two companies TVS India and BMW Motorrad had already signed a long term agreement in an event held at Chennai in the month of April 2013, where the duration of the agreement had not been specified indicating that both the companies would combine their efforts in developing motor cycles incorporated with engines below 500 cc of displacement.
BMW Motorrad and TVS Motors announced their partnership to build sub-500cc motorcycles in April-2013.Finally TVS-BMW Alliance has already started importing parts for their new motorcycle codenamed ‘K03’ as per the reports obtained from Zuaba.com, India’s import and export data tracking web portal. Reports also suggest that the parts for newly developed 300cc motorcycle codenamed as ‘K03’ for the Indian as well as global markets has been imported from Italy for R&D purpose. TVS and BMW will actively participate in product development keeping in mind each other’s strengths and weaknesses.TVS being an expert in making small products in mass scale with robust supply chain will combine its efforts with BMW’s high stability, agility and performance figures.
Every product developed by the co-operation of these two companies will have two variants to be made in India, One of which will be sold by BMW throughout the globe and the other version which will be sold by TVS in India and Indonesia. If the development is on schedule, then the upcoming motorcycles from TVS-BMW Alliance could make their world debut at the upcoming EICMA motorcycle show in October.
