Its official – the long-awaited Apache’s highest performer has been christened the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, and it will make its official debut at the 20th of January, followed by the media ride at the company’s Hosur test track for Indian media on the 21st.
The Apache RTR 200 4V, as it is known, indicates the 4-valve configuration on the motorcycle’s all-new 200 cc engine. This unit will be a single-cylinder one expected to spit-out around 26 PS of power with the rev limit coming in at an early 9000 RPM. It is likely to have a high and low-end torque output has the highlight of the powerplant.
Although not confirmed, TVS is rumoured to have used the Apache 180’s engine, increasing displacement to 200cc along with deploying an oil-cooler. To keep costs on check, the South India-based bike maker has used Carburettor and 5-speed gearbox, which is slightly disappointing as its closet-rival the Pulsar 200NS and 200AS is mated to 6-speed gearbox, further, the 200NS is expected to get fuel-injection system soon.
The Apache 200 4V is expected to be around Rs 90,000 – Rs 1,00,000 (depending on the non ABS and ABS variant).
