In a recent interview, K.N. Radhakrishnan, Chairman, CEO & Additional Whole-Time Director, TVS Motor Company, announced that a new motorcycle could be launched in 2021 based on the current 310 cc model.
With adventure tourer motorcycles increasingly growing popular, TVS Motor Company is expected to enter this segment with a new product based on the Apache RR310. Although there’s no official confirmation from the Hosur-based bike maker but the latest 310cc motorcycle is expected to be an adventure tourer.
The Apache RR310 was engineered in a joint collaboration between TVS Motor Company and BMW Motorrad. While BMW focuses on engineering and software, TVS tackles manufacturing needs. Other products included in the collaboration include the BMW G310GS and G310R. All of these motorcycles have emerged as common choices in this segment, so there is definitely the possibility of a new product launch. These bikes also managed to capture international markets successfully.
A rendering of 2021 TVS Apache 310 Adventure Tourer motorcycle by Bikers Community Nepal reveals how it may look in its production format with upswept Akrapovic exhaust system, tall windscreen, RR310-like alloy wheels, dual-purpose tyres, USD front forks with longer travel, rear monoshock rear suspension, blacked-out engine area, increased ground clearance and higher seat configuration compared to its sibling.
A full-color TFT instrument console, close-ratio gearbox, multiple riding modes, ride-by-wire technology, slipper clutch, Glide Thru Technology Plus and switchable ABS are key features TVS Motor Company could offer with the 310cc adventure motorcycle.
Like other TVS products, the upcoming 2021 TVS Apache 310 Adventure Tourer motorcycle too might get ‘TVS SmartXonnect’ connected tech. SmartXonnect enables users to connect their smartphones with the instrument console to access a range of features such as caller ID, navigation assist and last parked location.
TVS Apache 310 Adventure Tourer motorcycle will take on rivals including KTM 390 Adventure and Royal Enfield Himalayan when it launches. In the near future this segment is expected to be experiencing increased competition. There are indications that, next-year, new TVS adventure tourer motorcycles like KTM 250 Adv and Hero XPulse 300 could be introduced.
If the adventure version becomes a reality it would be priced at around Rs 2.60 lakh approx. It is going to use the same BS6 engine as its faired sibling. The 312.2 cc engine produces peak power of 34 bhp and a max torque of 27.3 Nm. Engine is mated to a track-tuned 6-speed transmission. It is possible that some tuning for the adventure model may be made to power and torque.
