Looks like the rumours were true – according to Hindustan Times, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Managing Director, Mr. Akito Tachibana has confirmed that the company will introduce the Toyota Yaris hatchback in India.
Currently, the Yaris hatchback is sold in markets like the Middle East, ASEAN and South America measuring 4,115 mm long, 1,700 mm wide and 1,800 tall. If launched in India, it will be the only premium hatchback that measures over 4 metres. To justify the costly price tag, the Yaris will come with good interior space and big list of features.
The Japanese carmaker is waiting for the safety and emission norm issues to come into clear sheet so that they can plan to launch their new line-up for India without hesitation. For now, Toyota India will introduce hybrid versions of its existing range; starting with Corolla Altis, Innova Crysta and Fortuner, while Etios and Liva will get hybrid variants last.
