Much-awaited Tata Indica replacement is finally launched today, called Tata Tiago is on-sale in petrol as well as in diesel guise. At a shocking starting price of Rs. 3.20 lakh, the Tiago does not face too much competition because of its cutting edge design, technology and driving dynamics that creates new segment benchmarks. And how can one resist the urge to drive this cool new hatchback?
Key highlights include Tata’s ConnectNext Infotainment system that has been exclusively developed by HARMAN, with an 8-speaker audio system, and can play files through USB and Aux-In, apart from radio and CD functions. It comes with new segment-first applications like Turn-by-Turn Navi app and Juke-Car app. Dual airbags and driver’s seat height adjustment are standard in the XZ grade, but optional in the XE, XM and XT.
Measuring 3,746 mm length, 1,647 mm width, 1,535 mm height and 2,400 mm wheelbase. The Tiago’s appealing exterior design has a dynamic silhouette to emphasize the compact look and sharp design influenced by the company’s latest IMPACT design language. Inside gets a dual-tone black and beige color combination with black fabric seat upholstery, optional body-colored trim around the side HVAC vents and piano black trim on the center console.
Available in petrol and diesel variants with two new engine options – Revotron 1.2-litre (petrol engine) and Revotorq 1.05-litre (diesel engine). Both these engines have been designed and programmed to deliver superior fuel economy and a peppy driving experience with a segment-first feature, the Multi-drive mode – City and Eco – making it equivalent to offering two engines in one. The two drive modes are supported by an advanced Engine Management System (EMS).
Delivering a class leading fuel efficiency of 23.84 KMPL on Revotron 1.2-litre petrol and 27.28 KMPL on Revotorq 1.05-litre diesel (as per Automotive Research Association of India certification), under test conditions.
A total of 5 variants are on offer – XB, XE, XM, XT & XZ with optional variants in XE, XM & XT, TIAGO will come in six exciting colour options – Striker Blue, Berry Red, Sunburst Orange, Espresso Brown, Pearlescent White and Platinum Silver.
The Tiago will come with a warranty of 2 Years / 75,000 KM (whichever is earlier) with an extended warranty option of 2 years + 1 year (3rd year extended warranty up to 75,000km) or 2 years + 2 years (3rd & 4th year extended warranty upto 1,00,000 kms).
Significantly, under high-stress conditions at the recent Geared For Great Challenge, the Tiago ran through the ultimate endurance test to do an unbelievable 50,000 kms – something that would take years for an average car consumer in real life. Under the aegis of FMSCI, the petrol and the diesel variants ran flawlessly for 18 days straight while averaging 120 kmph. Tata Motors is delighted that the two Tiago’s (one Petrol and other Diesel) did a parallel fuel economy test to clock-in an impressive mileage of 39.1 KMPL on the Petrol variant and 45.50 KMPL on the Diesel variant.
