Tata Motors revealed that they will be officially launching the JTP versions of the Tiago and Tigor on October 23. Both these models have been developed in association with Jayem Automotives. The Tiago and Tigor JTP will power Tata to the affordable performance vehicle segment in India, which at the moment is pretty scarce.
Tata revealed the Tiago and Tigor JTP at the 2018 Auto Expo held earlier this year. Both these models have gained some attention and it will be interesting to see it at the time of their launch. Additions to these include an air intake on the bonnet, blacked out grille and headlamps, new bumpers and a JTP logo present on the grille.
Cosmetic changes feature an leather upholstery with red stitching on the seats, aluminum pedals and red accents on the AC vents. Both these models will come with 15-inch, diamond-cut alloy wheels. We can also expect the Tiago and Tigor JTP to get a raised suspension which will give it a more performance-oriented stance.
Engine-wise, these cars will come with a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine seen on the Nexon. This engine gives 110 bhp of power and 150 Nm of torque. It will come paired to a 5-speed manual transmission.
We can expect the Tiago JTP to be priced at around Rs. 5-7 lakh and the Tigor JTP to come at Rs. 6-8 lakh. While the Tigor JTP will be the first performance compact sedan here, the Tiago JTP will be taking on the Fiat Abarth Punto, Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS and the Volkswagen Polo GT. We can expect both these models to hold their own in the market and perform well for the automaker.
