Tata Tiago JTP launch confirmed, debut this Diwali

Tata Motors have recently confirmed that they will be launching the Tiago JTP performance hatchback here in October. Launch is scheduled to take place precisely ahead of the upcoming festive season in India. When launched, the Tiago JTP will be the third model based on the Tiago platform after the original Tiago and the Tiago NRG.

Tata Tiago JTP will be on-sale only in a single variant with a manual gearbox.

The car will feature a few changes as well as some additional features. These include a stiffer and lower suspension for sharper handling, blacked out headlamps and roof, new alloy wheels and sporty side mirrors on the exterior. The interior will have leather seats, aluminum pedals and a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Inside you get leather finish for the seats and steering, aluminium pedals, and a 5.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with an 8-speaker stereo from Harman.

Tata Motors also confirmed that the Tiago JTP will be available only in a manual variant. This will be in the form of a 5-speed transmission. The engine powering the Tiago JTP will be a 1.2-litre, turbocharged petrol motor giving 108 BHP of power and 150 Nm of torque.

We can expect the Tiago JTP to be priced at around Rs. 7 lakh, which will make it the cheapest hot hatch on sale in India when launched. The Tiago JTP will have its rivals in the form of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS, Volkswagen Polo GT TSI and the Fiat Abarth Punto.

Once launched, the Tiago JTP is expected to be India’s cheapest hot hatchback.

Developed in collaboration with Jayem Automotives, the Tiago JTP looks like a winner in every right, given the original Tiago’s success and the growing potential of the hot hatch market in India.
