Home-grown car maker, Tata Motors made first appearance of its range of electric passenger vehicles at Asia’s largest Auto Expo.
Tata Motors displayed three of its EVs, the all-electric versions of the Tata Tiago EV, the Tigor EV and the Racemo EV at the biennial event. Taking a step further towards the future of mobility, this range of passenger vehicles signals Tata Motors’ shift from the use of an internal combustion engine (ICE). It also affirms the company’s endeavour to facilitate faster adoption of electric vehicles, to build a sustainable future for India.
Both the Tata Tiago EV, the Tigor EV will have a single speed, automatic transmission, powered by a 3-phase AC induction motor which produces a peak power output of 30kW at 4,500 RPM and a wide, flat torque curve from very low rpm. The motor and the battery combination offers high energy density, low energy consumption as well as fast charging capability.
The Tamo Racemo± is a pure electric variant of the Tamo Racemo. Powering this flagship car is a 150 kW electric motor that operates at a peak voltage of 400 V. Both slow charging (AC) and fast charging (DC) options are there in the EV. It can attain a top-speed of 200 KMPH and a charge can last a range of 350 km.
Visually, the Tamo Racemo± is different from the standard variant shown at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show with a contrasting colour of the two-tone colour scheme is blue. At the back, the portion of the central exhaust tailpipe is closed and the bumper has a cleaner design.
