Indian market has seen great demand for compact sedans this year. The No.1 passenger car manufacturer Maruti’s Swift Dzire also held the position of the best selling car for a while in the sales market. Apart from this, Honda also made a comeback by launching Amaze and also introducing the first diesel engine by them in the Indian market which proved to become the most fuel efficient engine till date.

Seeing the new booming segment and also by the reports obtained, Tata Motors is now ready to hit the first prototypes of Tata Vista CS/Tata Manza CS in Pune’s test track which later could also be seen in the public roads. The new compact sedans from Tata are expected to be built on the Vista platform with the rear design being inherited from the recently launched Honda Amaze.

Mr. Ranjit Yadav, President of Tata’s passenger car business reported to our friend at IndianAutosBlog that “Clearly, below four meters (segment) is a zone where the Indian design, development and production can be world class. That’s a segment we look at actively, without naming brands and models, we will look at that and we will fulfill that.”

The new Vista/Manza CS is expected to feature a roomy cabin and a fuel efficient engine in order to compete with Honda Amaze and Swift Dzire. Apart from this, Vista/Manza CS is expected to be powered with Manza’s 1.3-litre diesel and 1.4-litre petrol engines or the Tata’s 1.4-litre CR4 engine.
