Tata Motors to launch 4 all-new cars in the next 18 months; plans to capture 10% market share

Tata Motors seems to be facing a hard time in the Indian market. Even with huge investments in plants and other infrastructure facilities, Tata just cannot seem to get their sales up high. Tata Motors currently has a low market share of just 5.7 percent which is very bad for a company which has been around in the Indian market for a few decades now.

Well, Tata Motors seems to be very eager to increase their market share and has a plan in mind. Their plan seems to be very simple indeed, and it is to just launch new products one after the other and across different segments, so that they can target more customers. A recent report in the Economic Times revealed that Tata Motors is targeting sales of more than 4 Lakh units per annum by the end of this decade, which would take their market share up to 10 percent.

In accordance with their plan, Tata Motors will be launching 4 all-new Vehicles across different segments, and we can also expect facelifts and updates on existing models too, all within the next 18 months. The different segments targeted by Tata Motors’ 4 new products are spread across the spectrum of the Indian automobile industry.

1.  Tata Kite: Codenamed, Kite, this is an entry level hatchback; the long awaited replacement for the Tata Indica which has been around for a long time now. The Kite has been spotted testing, a number of times and now the Kite seems to be ready for launch. The Kite will be the first to be launched, of the 4 new vehicles.

2.  Tata Kite Compact Sedan: Tata is trying to pull off what other manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki have already done with the Swift and Swift Dzire, by spawning off a compact sedan which is based on the Hatchback’s platform. The Tata Kite will be made as a Sub-4 meter compact sedan too and will be sharing a majority of its components with the Hatchback.

3.  Tata Nexon: The Nexon is a Sub-4 meter Compact SUV that was showcased by Tata Motors at the 2014 Auto Expo. The SUV will help Tata compete with manufacturers like Ford, Renault and Maruti Suzuki by directly competing with their respective compact SUV’s, the Ecosport, Duster and the upcoming XA-Alpha.

4.  Tata Hexa Crossover: The Hexa is a crossover which was revealed recently by Tata in full production guise, and it is definitely production ready by the looks of it. The Hexa will be Tata’s Flagship model after it is launched and will compete with its arch-rival, the Mahindra XUV 500.

We sure do hope that Tata Motors’ plans work out for them even in the midst of new, tougher competition.
