The folks at Overdrive magazine have tweeted that Tata Motors is planning to launch a more powerful 90PS diesel version of the Tata Indica Vista. Currently the Indica Vista has the 90PS variant in petrol only and not diesel, the current top-end diesel variant in the Vista line-up is the Indica Vista Quadrajet ZX which puts out a maximum of 74bhp and comes with a 1.3-litre diesel mill.
As of now, the only diesel hot hatch on-sale in India is the Fiat Punto 90hp and as we reported yesterday that Volkswagen too will launch hot hatch by plonking the Vento’s 1.6-litre diesel motor onto the Polo. And now the sources suggest that Tata Motors to joins the race with the Vista 90 Quadrajet.
However from what we hear, the new 90PS Vista diesel will come incorporated with the Tata Manza dashboard. The meter dials on the Manza are shifted to the driver side and a small digital computer sits in its place giving out data related to distance, speed and fuel consumption.
According to reports the new Tata Indica Vista 90PS diesel may also get a re-tuned suspension which hints at the possibility of this variant being a sports version in the Vista line-up. Also, the front grille is expected to see a minor makeover. With the Vista 90 Quadrajet, Tata Motors will be hoping to offer diesel car enthusiasts more power and torque.
