Like other German car manufacturer, tuning ordinary vehicles into performance models which Mercedes-Benz does it with its AMG line, BMW with its M range, Audi has its S and RS models… Now even Volkswagen has its R brand. Earlier this month, Volkswagen in Europe launched its new R-Line package for the Passat and now Polo R-Line model is the newest addition to that lot, deliveries of which begin from July.
On the exterior Polo R-Line gets a black gloss radiator grille, 16-inch ‘Mallory’ alloy wheels, tinted rear windows, standard fog lights, deeper side sills, and more aggressive front and rear bumpers.
On the interior is a set of ‘Kyalami’ trimmed sport seats, R Line headrests with an ‘R’ logo, aluminum-capped pedals, and an R Line badged steering wheel The headliner is covered in black cloth.
As for standard equipment, the R Line offers up automatic air conditioning, a multi-device interface with a radio/CD player and six speakers, a trip computer, height-adjustable front seats, heated rear-view mirrors, and a trip computer.
Only one motor is offered for power, which is the 1.2-liter petrol, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. This allows for a 0-100kph time of 9.7 seconds, with top speeds reaching 190 kph. Fuel economy sits at 18.87 Kpl, with city and highway combined.
The price tag for an R Line starts at around $20,000(INR 10,55,600 approx.)
