First unveiled in March-2015, Tata Motors today officially launched the Hexa crossover at an introductory price of Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Deliveries are expected to commence by the end of this month.
Hexa is a new crossover from Tata Motors, which will sit above the Aria in its line-up.
The Hexa is available with a 7-seater as well as a unique 6-seater configuration. And a total of 5 paint colour options are on offer – Arizona Blue, Tungsten Silver, Pearl White, Platinum Silver and Sky Grey. Three variants on offer include – the base XE comes with a 2.2-litre Varicor diesel engine good for 150hp and 320Nm of torque, paired to 5-speed manual transmission.
The next two trims, XM and XT, come with a slightly more powerful 2.2-litre 156hp 400Nm Varicor400 diesel engine. This unit is mated to 6-speed manual as well as automatic gearboxes. Built with inputs from Land Rover team, the Hexa equipped with the 6-speed manual gearbox comes with four drive modes – Auto, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough Road.
Quality of the plastics and materials used are much better than we have ever seen on any Tata car.
Inside, the Hexa gets all-black interiors with chrome accents and contrasting stitching, LED illumination for ambient mood lighting, leather upholstery, leather wrapped steering wheel, and auto-dimming lights. New goodies available are 19-inch alloy rims, cruise control, automatic climate control, ConnectNext infotainment system with a touchscreen, along with 10-speaker JBL sound system and an eight-way adjustable driver’s seat.
As far as safety is concerned, is equipped with dual front airbags and ABS as standard on all trims. The Hexa XT gets speed sensing door locks, Traction Control, Hill Hold Control, Hill Descent Control, ABS with EBD, ESP with Roll-over mitigation and 6 airbags. Tata Hexa comes with a warranty of 3 years/1,50,000 kms.
Tata Hexa is re-energized by Tata Motors team to compete with the Toyota Innova Crysta and Mahindra XUV500.
At the launch although the company has not revealed any booking numbers, they did say that they have received a good no of bookings already. So much so that the MPV will command a waiting period of 2 months, depending on the variant and city you live in. For further personalisation, Tata Motors is offering three accessories at launch: Expedition Kit, Luxe Kit and Tuff Kit with the car.
