Couple of days earlier, Suzuki Motorcycles India unveiled two new products for the Indian market – the 155cc Suzuki Gixxer motorcycle and the 112cc Let’s scooter. The Suzuki Gixxer was unveiled by actor Salman Khan, who has been associated with Suzuki Motorcycles as the brand endorser. While the scooter ‘Let’s’ was an opportunity to introduce the vivacious Parineeti Chopra as their new brand ambassador.
Suzuki Gixxer 155cc street bike
The Suzuki Gixxer you see above was spotted at the Noida expressway last-week. The Gixxer 155 boasts an aggressive styling and comes with a sporty headlight and nicely carved fuel tank, which makes its appearance muscular. Its step-up seat with the stylish rear cowls makes a great combination and gels well with rest of the styling. The best part of the bike is its sporty exhaust muffler, which enhances the sportiness of the bike.
Under the skin, the Gixxer houses a 155cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, four-stroke engine. Other technical specification of the Gixxer like the power and torque figures, has not been officially revealed. The Gixxer will use a 5-speed gearbox (not a 6-speed unit like the GS150R) and will sit above the GS150R in Suzuki’s motorcycle portfolio. The tyres are quite wide with the front unit being a 100/80/17 section and the rear being a 140/60/17. The bike gets a fully digital instrument cluster.
The price of the new Suzuki Gixxer 155 is not announced officially, but expect it to be priced marginally more than the GS150R. The company will once again showcase the Gixxer 155 at the 2014 Auto Expo next-week, while the official launch will only happen around July-August. Altogether the Gixxer a very appealing preposition and will directly compete with the likes of the Yamaha FZ and Honda CB Trigger.
Suzuki Let’s 112cc scooter
If you remember, previously at the 2012 Auto Expo Suzuki Motorcycles India showcased a electric scooter named as ‘e-Let’s’. Now the company has launched a new scooter called ‘Let’s’ for Indian market. Designed and styled for the Indian market, this scooter is quite performance packed and economical. The Let’s comes with cut away floor boards for easy handling while the engine is called twist and go and the tagline is ‘Let’s Karte hain!’
Under the skin, the Let’s is powered by a 112.8cc, 4-Stroke, single-cylinder engine, that is mated with the CVT. The engine is tuned to generate the maximum power product of 8.7bhp at the acceleration rate of 7500RPM while creating the top torque of 9Nm at 5500RPM. Suzuki has rated it at 63kmpl of fuel efficiency (not an ARAI certified mind you) as they have incorporated the SEP (Suzuki Eco Performance) technology to the mill. The fuel tank capacity of the scooter is 5.2-litre and the ground clearance is 160 mm.
The appearance of the Let’s scooter is much more elegant just like its elder sibling Swish. Let’s will be offered in a total of 5 shade – Pearl Mira Red, Metallic Triton Blue, Pearl Mirage white, Glass Sparkle Black and Metallic Sonic Silver. Looking at the dimensions, the Let’s scooter seems to directly compete with the likes of the Honda Activa-i. Alongside the Gixxer 155, the Let’s scooter will be on display at the 2014 Auto Expo next-week and will go on-sale around July-August.
Along with the 2 new offerings, Suzuki Motorcycles India also announced to increase its dealerships figure from 600 to 1000 outlets.
