Workers strike at Maruti’s Manesar plant ended today after 13 days. Eleven workers who were earlier sacked were reinstated; Work will resume tomorrow onwards. However, there has been no decision made yet on forming a separate union.
The strike called by workers on June 4th. Around 2,000 workers had struck work.
About 1,200 cars are produced daily at the plant, a good number of them diesel variants, which are seeing a growth in demand. Models coming out of Maruti’s Gurgaon plant did not face any problems as operations there were not impacted by the strike.
Maruti Suzuki is in the process of setting up two new plants in Manesar with a cumulative annual production capacity of 5 lakh units.
