Well, lookee here, it’s the Bajaj Pulsar 200SS (Super Sports) again. The Pulsar 200SS was first seen in October-2013 at National Highway 4, outside Kolhapur, is back doing its evaluation rounds. The latest spy shots has been snapped by Praveen Jones who is an avid biker, on his trip to Ooty. This is for the first time the Pulsar 200SS has been snapped outside Maharashtra. There were two test mules of Pulsar 200SS and also two 200NS. The reason for the delay in launch could be that the company wants to give this new machine a perfect launch pad and want to leave no stone unturned, like in the case of Bajaj Pulsar 200SS.
Nothing much is known about the upcoming Pulsar 200SS, every detail on the web is just a speculation. The Pulsar 200SS is said to be launched in 2 variants; the base model – will be using carburetor like in the 200NS and will not get ABS option, while the higher-end model – will get fuel-injection and ABS as standard. Furthermore, the Pulsar 200SS is believed to be inspired by the KTM RC series, with twin projector headlamps but both the bikes are said to get different design. The Pulsar 200SS is now expected to be unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo at Noida in February-2014, and bookings will commence soon after that.
Under the skin, the Pulsar 200SS will borrow the engine from the Pulsar 200NS, but the base model will get carburetor, while the higher-end model will get fuel-injection. The Pulsar 200SS base model will have same power of that of Pulsar 200NS, but the higher-end model will get a slight engine tuning and power boost. Compared to Pulsar 200NS, the Pulsar 200SS will priced high about Rs. 15,000 – 20,000 more, retaining the Pulsar value for money scheme. The fairing comes courtesy of the fact that most of the 200 NS’s competitors, which includes the Hero ZMR, Honda CBR150R and Yamaha R15 sport full fairings.
