Spotted by CarWale in Maharashtra, wearing temporary plates is a Volkswagen Ameo diesel variant – thanks to the ‘TDi’ badge on its boot for the evidence.
TDi (Turbocharged Direct Injection) is a design of turbodiesel engines featuring turbocharging and cylinder-direct fuel injection that was developed and produced by the Volkswagen Group (VW AG), and in the case of the Ameo, the powerplant’s a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel unit is expected to produce 108 BHP and 230 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG automatic.
Rest of the equipments list and variants will be similar to its petrol-powered sibling. The Ameo diesel is expected to launch during this year’s festive season at speculated price starting from Rs. 6.80 lakh (ex-showroom).
