Recently launched Mahindra XUV500 in the Tata Aria’s feature segment has created more troubles for already troubled Aria sales, with a lower priced product with better features. We said earlier that Tata Aria Automatic version on Tata Motors cards. A month ago Carwale said testing has already begun for this new automatic variant in India and in UK.
Now we have the proof, thanks to Anything-On-Wheels for the spy picture of automatic variant of the Aria caught in Pune. The ‘On Test’ Aria was spotted at Pimpri and had no badges to distinguish it from the manual counterpart.
The Aria Automatic will be the very first autobox from Tata Motors and this upgrade is expected to take place in conjunction with Tata’s British subsidiary Jaguar-Land Rover. The Aria Automatic will be more expensive than the top-end 4X2 Aria.
It’s expected to launch soon in India. There is no official timeline, but we expect that it should hit Indian roads before the first quarter of 2012. It is the perfect feature to be introduced on the Aria because Mahindra is said to be considering an automatic version of its latest winner Mahindra XUV 500, but it’s still long way. What do you think, will an Automatic variant boost some life into the Aria’s sales?
