We recently said India is one of the markets where the Evoque will be making its way into. Now the heavily camouflaged Range Rover Evoque has been spotted by Siddharth Devasthali and posted the pictures on Car & Bike Show by NDTV on Facebook page.
The Evoque 3 door version was seen at a junction on Paud Road in Pune, the road to the hill on which the Automobile Research Association of India (ARAI) is situated. From the pics it’s very clear the 3 door version will make it first which could be followed by the 5 door version. In India, there are no SUVs which are available in 3-door versions and the launch of the Evoque 3-door looks doubtful at first.
Powered by a 2.0litre turbocharged diesel engine, the Evoque produces 243PS. Mated with a 6 speed automatic transmission; the Evoque also offers a manual with paddle shifts. The Range Rover Evoque will slot right above the Freelander 2 and will be priced around Rs 53lakh for the 3-door and the 5-door version may cost around Rs 50lakh.
Apart from the ultra futuristic looks, the Evoque also has some really cool features on the inside too. One of it is Land Rover’s unique “Terrain Response” system which enhances all-surface, all-weather capability when off-roading thus making it a brilliant off-roader, while the SUV has the best on-road manners too.
Now we have further information coming in with a November launch for the Evoque confirmed. Initially, the Range Rover Evoque Crossover will be brought into India through the CBU route, straight from Hailwood, UK. A while later, in the middle of 2012, the Evoque Crossover SUV will be assembled in India through CKD kits at Tata Motors’-Mercedez Benz’s erstwhile production facility at Chikli, off Pune. Also, bookings for the Evoque are being accepted by some Jaguar-Land Rover dealers in India.
