Lamborghini will unveil the much talked-SUV at Mon December 4, 2017 at Sant’Agata in Italy. The Urus will mark the company’s entry into an uncharted territory, being the first SUV from the brand.
At the Lamborghini Huracán Performante’s India launch, Sharad Agarwal, India head, Lamborghini, said that; “We will soon introduce cars in SUV segment, the delivery of super sports SUV car, the Urus is expected to start in mid-2018. Given the preference for SUV cars among Indians, we believe that Urus is going to be exciting and important product for us. It is going to open up a completely new segment of customers for us.”
Lamborghini’s first SUV will only have full-traction and Plug-in Hybrid technology that is being developed exclusively for what may well be the fastest SUV in the world. It is based on the same underpinnings as the Audi Q7, Bentley Bentayga and the upcoming Porsche Cayenne, but all the tuning will be specific, in order to preserve the brand’s sporty DNA.
The Urus will be powered by a 4.0-litre twin turbo charged motor V8 motor that is unique to Lamborghini (it won’t be derived from or shared with VW Group stablemates Audi or Bentley), while former Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann (now Audi Sport boss) also stated that the new V8 won’t be installed in the marque’s other supercars, saying that it goes against the Lamborghini’s “one car, one engine” ethos.
The super sports SUV car, which is likely to be unveiled in December 04, 2017, will make its global debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March next-year. Deliveries are expected to begin for the SUV in mid-2018, worldwide. The Urus will be locking horns with the Audi Q7 and the Bentley Bentagya for the expensive SUV slot.
