Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), currently the leader in the small commercial vehicle segment in India, yesterday launched a premium pick-up called ‘Imperio’ starting from Rs. 6.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Thane). This price is applicable for BSIII variant of the Imperio, though Mahindra also offers the Imperio in a BS IV variant.
This Imperio is available four trim levels – Base variant (BS-III & BS-IV) and VX variant (BS-III & BS-IV), and can be had in both single and double cab avatars. Featuring an 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder, direct injection diesel engine in both, producing 75 BHP and 220 Nm of torque, mated to the same 5-speed manual transmission it delivers an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 13.55 kmpl with a payload capacity of 1240 kg.
The Mahindra Imperio range consists of 3 attractive colours – Lava Red, Verve Blue and Arctic White. The cabin of the Imperio is carried over from the Genio/Xylo with Mahindra’s signature 3-spoke steering wheel, white instrument dials and curvy centre console. The Imperio rides on 16-inch radial tubeless tyres. It has a standard warranty of 3 years or 1,00,000 km (whichever is earlier).
The VX variant further gets AC, power windows, bucket seats, 2-DIN music system, engine immobilizer, two drive modes (Power and ECO), temematics compatibility, power windows, keyless entry, follow-me-home lights and illuminated keyring. The engine gets the Mahindra’s Fuel Smart technology (linked to the ‘Pwr’ and ‘Eco’ drive modes), which claims a 7 percent hike in mileage.
