Kia Motors is gearing up for Auto Expo 2018, where they will showcase some exciting products coming to our country. The South-Korean automaker will make its India debut in that event. But recently, a couple of Kia cars were spotted in a yard here.
One of them is the Sportage SUV, which is launched in global markets some time ago. The European Sportage is available in 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines, producing 153 bhp and 182 bhp of power respectively. It could be a good alternative to the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour in India.
The other one is a hybrid crossover, the Niro. It is another car launched by Kia globally, and is doing well there. The European Crossover has a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine combined with a 1.56 KWh Lithium-Ion polymer battery.
It produces a decent 104 BHP of power. It would rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, Hyundai Creta and Jeep Compass. Kia Motors haven’t yet confirmed which are the models planned for launch.
But, sources say that a mid-sized SUV and a sedan will be their first products in India. Currently, Kia Motors is working on a manufacturing facility for its models. Work is expected to start in the plant by 2019.
