KIA’s India-bound range previewed, as part of Kia dealer Roadshow

Korean automaker KIA Motors, a parent company of Hyundai Motor company, is seriously considering its plans to enter India. A couple of months ago,the company signed a Mou (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Andhra Pradesh government to set up its plans there. It seems that KIA is leaving no stone unturned to make its presence felt here even before the products are launched.

In a recent roadshow conducted by the company, the people got to know what cars are set to be launched here in the coming years by them. Despite the varieties of cars shown, KIA Motors India operations will reportedly be sperheaded by a small hatchback, sedan and an SUV. The models shown include the KIA Picanto and Rio hatchbacks, KIA Cerato and Optima sedans, KIA Nitro Crossover, KIA Sportage and Sorento SUV’s.

Well-out of this long list of models, it was the Picanto that got most interested. The Picanto, along with the Rio, will undoubtedly be the volume gainers once KIA starts its operations here. The Cerato and the Optima also garnered good response, with the former D-segment sedan set to compete with the Hyundai Elantra and Skoda Octavia, the latter is the bigger cousin, which will take on the Skoda Superb, Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.

SUVs include a Hyundai Tucson rival which is the Sportage and its bigger sibling, set to rival the Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner. KIA motors also showcased its cross-over Nitro, which will be the company’s first dedicated hybrid vehicle. The future does look bright for the company here, and the Auto Expo 2018 in February is a chance for them to showcase their cars for a bigger audience.
