Kia Motors India have made a confident start to their operations here. Their first product, the Seltos mid-size SUV, has become a runaway success. Due to this, Kia Motors will look to capitalise by launching four new products here soon.
One of these could be the Telluride premium SUV, sold in various markets abroad. The Telluride is one of Kia’s flagship models overseas and as per reports, the automaker is considering it for India. If it is confirmed for launch here, it will come via the CKD route.
There is talk that Kia will be developing a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) assembly line here. This will be constructed alongside its facility located in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. The Telluride is sold as an 8-seater premium SUV in markets abroad.
Other than that, Kia will look to introduce the Sorento here. The Sorento, a cross-over SUV, was spotted undergoing testing here some time ago and is slated to release next year. There will also be the Niro and Soul EV launching at around the same time.
With these, Kia will be able to form a formidable line-up for India. Coming back to the Telluride, it may be priced at around Rs.70-80 lakh (ex-showroom, India). It will rival the likes of the Audi Q7, Mercedes GLS, BMW X5 and the Volvo XC90.
