Do you remember? A couple of months back ICML (International Cars and Motor limited), has announced that they are planning to enter the SUV segment to compete against XUV500, Safari Strome, Force One and Mahindra Scorpio. Now according AutoCarIndia, the Haval H5 SUV manufactured by Great Wall Motors, a Chinese automaker, is what ICML is speculated to be considering for an Indian launch.
Now thanks to AutoCarIndia for first spy pictures of the Haval H5 SUV spotted it testing in Chandigarh. The new Haval H5 SUV is also identified as X240 in other markets and could be sold in India as five or seven seater vehicle with either automatic or manual transmission. It sports an upmarket-looking exterior styling.
The H5 is 4649mm long, 1810mm wide and 1735mm tall and available in many markets in both 4X2 and 4X4 versions. Its 2700mm wheelbase is same as that of the Mahindra XUV500, a little longer than the Safari Storme (2650mm) and slightly shorter than the Aria (2850mm).
Internationally, engine choices include a 2.4-litre petrol engine that churns out 134bhp and 20.3kgm of torque and a 2.5-litre diesel which is good for 107bhp and 30.5kgm of torque. Looking at the soaring petrol prices in India, the diesel variant has more chances to be launched in India. In various car markets, the SUV is available in both 4×4 and 4×2 versions.
