Spied – Ford Figo facelift caught testing in Chennai

Ford Figo was launched in March 2010 and since then American car manufacturer has probably forgotten to update their only hatch in India. On this gap, Maruti upgraded its Swift hatch and so did Hyundai when they launched i-gen i20.  General Motors is also testing its Sail hatch which is slated for launch sometime in coming months.

If Maruti and Hyundai have their updated hatchs, can Ford stay behind without upgrading theirs? No. So it was about time Ford designers showed some love to the long forgotten Figo. After about 2 years of duty, Ford will give the Figo a mild facelift. Thanks for folks at MotorVikatan, for firstever spy pictures of the 2013 Ford Figo facelift which caught testing in Chennai, India.

Ford Figo facelift

From the spy pictures, it spots the test car features a yellow paintjob and has redesigned tail lights with black tape masking. We are sure, that the Ford may make changes to the front as well, giving the Figo slightly re-designed headlights and a new bumper. Interiors too will get a minor upgrade, while other changes still remain a mystery at the moment. The current petrol and diesel engines are expected to be carried over.

But we tell you that the new model spotted could be more of a mid-career refresh with cosmetic changes dominating the scene rather than anything major. The car is quite spacious, comes with a responsive diesel engine that is frugal too, has a superb ride and handling package, a good feature set and a reasonable price tag.

This is quite understandable as Ford sells the Figo as a value-for-money hatchback that brings a lot more to the table than the competition at a smaller price tag. The company may also add few additional equipment to tackle new entrants in the segment. We all know that Ford will maintain the aggressive pricing on the Figo, which has been hugely responsible for the success of the Figo in the Indian market.
