Mahindra owned Korean car maker, Ssangyong is gearing-up to launch its premium sports utility vehicle Rexton in India by this-Diwali. Before that a folk at Gaadi.com has managed to snap a test-mule of the upcoming Ssangyong Rexton W somewhere in Delhi with heavy camouflage. With the lot of sighting of the new Rexton W in India, we predict Mahindra might launch the new model in the country.
The Ssangyong Rexton II has the Mercedes-Benz M-Class as the base, whereas Rexton W SUV is the facelift model of the Rexton II. This model has been showcased at numerous motor shows around the globe, but Ssangyong Rexton II has been spotted quite a few times on the Indian roads during its trail-run. But if actual facts are taken into account that Rexton II is now 2 years old and after the arrival of new model, launching the older model doesn’t make any sense. So, one could expect 2013 Ssangyong Rexton W SUV to be launched very soon.
Currently Mahindra has no SUV in this segment and the new SUV is expected to extend Mahindra’s presence in more segment that has recently picked-up pace. In this segment, both the luxury and power besides the safety are given prime importance over mileage and the Rexton is a great combination of all these. As of now, no pricing or exact launch date has been revealed but we expect the new Rexton to be priced around Rs. 18 lakh.
