BMW was spotted testing their all new X5 SUV in Germany earlier this week. Next gen X5 SUV is slated to be launched later this year in European and US auto markets. BMW refers to the new X5 as F15. Under the hood, expect the same set of engines that are currently available in X5. Apart from the V6 and V8, BMW might also launch ActiveHybrid variant of the 2013 X5, as demand for fuel efficient cars in on the rise.
The current second-generation X5 has been around since 2006. It will continue on the market until 2013. The 2014 model will feature a fresh new design, showcasing BMW’s latest design language, sharing similar design themes as seen on the new 1-Series and 6-Series, with a restyled front twin-grille layout.
As for technology, the F15 X5 will feature BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system, self-leveling air suspension with Adaptive Drive, night vision, park assist, traffic-sign recognition, and fuel-saving measures such as stop-start.
A four cylinder variant will also be on offer. 2013 BMW X5 will be more efficient than the current variant as engineers have used ultra light alloys and aluminum while manufacturing the new BMW SUV. BMW engineers have used the same 5 Series platform in order to build X5.
