Skoda Auto have revealed that they are monitoring the Octavia RS245 sold in global markets for India. This is due to the good response of the performance-oriented Octavia vRS. Skoda did manage to sell the allocated number of units of the vehicle.
Skoda says that the RS 245 is also the most powerful factory-made road-going Octavia ever.
As a result of this, dealers have stopped accepting bookings due to the unavailability of stocks. There has been talk that Skoda are readying the next batch of the Octavia vRS which will go on sale early next-year. But, we cannot rule out the possibility of the Octavia RS245 for India.
This is because Skoda offers both the Octavia RS245 and the vRS in some markets. The Octavia RS245 comes powered by a 2.0-litre, turbocharged petrol engine. This engine is capable of delivering 242 bhp of power and comes mated either to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG transmission.
The company has used its special sports chassis that has lowered the body by 15 mm and its rear track is 30 mm wider than that of its regular sibling.
Skoda claims that the Octavia RS245 can reach the 0-100 kmph mark in just 6.6 seconds and has a top speed of 250 kmph. Skoda will sell the Octavia RS245 via the CBU route if they make up their mind on launching the car. We can expect it to be priced around the Rs. 20 lakh range, which may seem good for a performance sedan in India.
