The car owners have started facing a new problem of the logo/badges stolen, which has nothing to do with the car dealers and in major cities of India like, Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Pune car owners have complained that the company badges/logos of their cars are getting stolen, back and back.
All most every owners are face this problem, stated that the theft occurred at night when the car was parked safely inside their society/bungalow premises and under the vigilant eyes of their watchman. But, even then these thieves were successful in stealing these badges. Be it Mercedes Benz, BMW, Audi or a Maruti, these thieves were experienced and were swift at their job.
After stealing these car badges, thieves would sell them at a price of Rs 500 to Rs 5,000, depending on the brand, bigger brand name carried a bigger price tag. Complaining to local cops has not helped in reducing the rate at which these car badges are getting stolen. One of the most common cars to have their badges stolen includes Skoda’s and Volkswagen’s.
In order to reduce these incidents, Skoda Auto India is planning to replace the stolen badges on Skoda cars for free. This exercise is largely for Mumbai customers, with stolen logos largely found in the financial capital of the country. Skoda has received a large number of orders for replacement badges in Mumbai and thus decided to replace stolen badges for free to people who are victimized.
Skoda Auto logos are sold in the aftermarket costing anywhere between Rs 600 for the Fabia’s front badge to Rs 1,500 for the Yeti’s rear badge. The company is most likely to do it only once, so next time you give your Skoda for service without a badge, don’t be surprised to see it back. By offering free badges, Skoda Auto hopes that the demand in aftermarket will eventually reduce and in turn will reduce the number of thefts.
